jonah is my favorite. if it were greg's favorite, too, august would be called jonah! i think ingrid is a beautiful name, and i like it that it was anne's grandmother's name.

I love the name Kasper and we considered it when we were looking for Callum's name. I think Erik ruled out Casper and Oscar because of the associations (ghost and grouch respectively)... But I love it. I like Anders and Jonah, too, so I don't see how you can go wrong ;-)

I think Ingrid, Maiken and Nadja are all nice. As an English speaker I'm uncomfortable with Embla because it makes me instantly think of embolism or emblem (we don't have a lot of words that start with embl...)

I love Ingrid and Nadja. For boys I agree that Casper has associations with Casper the ghost. Both Jonah and Anders are good but I think Anders sounds better with the last names.

I know how hard the name thing is. We didn't even have a girl's name at the time Eivind was born!

I like that you're considering Anders now. It's what I voted for.Kasper/Kaspar for me is a very trendy Oslo-area name. Jonah for me is overpoweringly Biblical.

In fact I'm surprised that nearly all the names are Biblical, except for Embla and Ingrid. Since we were looking for an "E" name we talked about Embla--I like it very much, but I felt it had just a little too much mythological baggage. We talked about Ebba quite a bit as an alternative to Embla and Emma.

I voted for Ingrid. I would have voted for Maiken too if I could have voted twice. Maiken is spunky and sweet. Consider me as another vote for Maiken, actually!

My least favorite girl's name is Nadja--because of my age that conjures up machine-like eastern European gymnasts or "sexy" evil communist spies from movies about the cold war.

Not that I'm trying to influence you or anything : )

Good luck! Whatever name you choose will grow with the child and create a positive impression, even if people (like me! sorry!) can be judgmental at first. Go with what you both love and ignore the nay-sayers. People are SO opinionated about names...
